OUR MISSION

As the body of Christ in the Polygon, we seek to love & obey God, to live out our faith by following Jesus’ example and to listen to the Holy Spirit as we share our faith with others.

  • Together with the Holy Spirit we want to make disciples to the glory of God.
  • Together we want to extend God’s kingdom here on earth in word and deed - by feeding both the spiritually & physically hungry.
  • Together we want to be welcoming to the community, helping others to come in to contact with the love of God as they come into the building.
  • We aspire to engage with our predominantly student community and help to introduce them to Jesus.

We have been serving the Polygon for over 100 years, but recognise that we now live in a very fluid community that is a student village serving the students of Southampton Solent University. We serve with Sunday services but also as a community space enjoyed by a number of different groups and charities. We want to make sure that the area where we worship in is a better place to live because we are here.

Charity Support

Each year the deacons choose one local, one national and one global charity to support financially throughout the year. For 2020 the charities are: Bible Society, Friends International and Hope into Action Southampton.

Friends International

Central supports the work of Friends International in Southampton by hosting a couple of events e.g. pancake parties and games evenings, each year. Susan Caddy, a member at Central, joined Friends International staff in September 2014 as Centre Team Leader for Southampton and Winchester.

Navigators

Mike Spencer worshipped at Central from 2000 to 2005. During that time he left his job as an electronics engineer in Southampton to work full time for the Navigators. After working for two years in Southampton, he moved to Manchester to set up Navigators ministry there.

BMS Link Missionaries

Annie and Dan Dupree are Central's BMS Link Missionaries undertaking church and health ministries in Albania.

About Us

We are a growing multinational family in the centre of Southampton who are privileged to contribute a Christian ministry to the Polygon area, where we want to provide a spiritual home for our all neighbours. We are led by our Pastor David Masters and the deacons (the leaders in a Baptist church). The deacons are Jon Dyer and Vicky Heath. The work of the church is enabled by members of the congregation, and others, volunteering their time and gifts.
